Indications

Infectious and inflammatory diseases caused by microorganisms sensitive to doxycycline:
  • respiratory tract infections;
  • infections of ENT organs, including otitis media, sinusitis, tonsillitis;
  • infections of the genitourinary system as part of combination therapy;
  • sexually transmitted infections: urogenital chlamydia, syphilis in patients with penicillin intolerance, uncomplicated gonorrhea, inguinal granuloma, venereal lymphogranuloma;
  • infections of the gastrointestinal tract and biliary tract (cholera, yersiniosis, cholecystitis, cholangitis, gastroenterocolitis, bacillary and amoebic dysentery, diarrhea of ​​"travelers");
  • infections of the skin and soft tissues (including wound infections after an animal bite), severe acne (as part of combination therapy);
  • other diseases: phrambesia, legionellosis, chlamydia of various localization, rickettsiosis, Q fever, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, typhoid (including rash, tick-borne relapsing), Lyme disease (I st. - erythema migrans), tularemia, plague, actinomycosis, malaria;
  • infectious diseases of the eyes, as part of combination therapy - leptospirosis, trachoma, psittacosis, ornithosis, anthrax (including pulmonary form), bartonellosis, granulocytic ehrlichiosis; whooping cough, brucellosis, osteomyelitis; sepsis, subacute septic endocarditis, peritonitis;
  • prevention of postoperative purulent complications;
  • malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum, during short trips (less than 4 months) in the territory where strains resistant to chloroquine and / or pyrimethamine sulfadoxine are common.

the average daily dose is 200 mg on the first day (divided into 2 doses - 100 mg 2 times a day), then 100 mg/day (for 1-2 doses)

In severe infections, especially chronic infections of the urinary system

200 mg/day throughout the treatment period

Diarrhea of ​​"travelers" (prevention)

200 mg on the first day of the trip (for 1 dose or 100 mg 2 times a day), then 100 mg 1 time per day for the entire stay in the region (no more than 3 weeks)

Leptospirosis Treatment

100 mg orally 2 times a day for 7 days; prevention of leptospirosis - 200 mg once a week during a stay in a disadvantaged area and 200 mg at the end of the trip

Children 9-12 years old with body weight up to 45 kg

the average daily dose is 4 mg / kg on the first day, then 2 mg/kg per day (in 1-2 doses)

In the presence of renal failure and / or liver failure of mild to moderate severity, a reduction in the daily dose of doxycycline is required, since this gradually accumulates in the body (risk of hepatotoxicity).
